Email subjects not using template subjects

Out of the three templates provided only one seems to put the template text into the actual email.

Can you explain please....

• Message title - Application Follow Up Message Template
• Message Subject - Application Follow Up
• Actual subject in email when sent - How did you get on?

• Message title - Application Send Info Message Template
• Message Subject - Application Send Opportunity Info
• Actual subject in email when sent - Your Application to Volunteer

• Message title - Request Info Template
• Message Subject - Thank you for your interest in our volunteering opportunity
• Actual subject in email when sent - Thank you for your interest in our volunteering opportunity
  • (This is correct, although I haven't tried to see if changing the template subject text changes it in the actual email)
