Using Headers and Footers in Mailings

I am trying to start using mailings. There is a lot of very good functionality and it would be nice to use it.

It appears that the ability to create, maintain and use headers and footers in mailings is completely missing.

You are given the opportunity to either use none or to use Mailing Header for the header or none or Mailing Footer for the footer. It would be possible to work round this and use none in both cases and do everything in the text but this is not possible for the footer. If you use none for the footer it then gets it's knickers in a twist because you are not including an unsubscribe option. If you use Mailing Footer it includes the unsubscribe but also inserts the text "Sample Footer for HTML formatted content" into the finished email, which looks dreadful.

I know it is possible to craft some HTML into the body to deal with the unsubscribe but it is not something I would expect the average user to do.

Even if the Mailing Footer had no text but still included the unsubscribe it would be a work around until it was done properly..

Hi,

Any chance of getting an update on this.

Hi Graham

I use mailings quite a lot and don't seem to have this problem. I never choose a header or footer, but also never choose none and it just puts the unsubscribe link in with our organisation address below. I can't remember what I did if anything to set this up in the beginning but it is definitely possible to not include the text you quote above. I have looked in administration but can't seem to find anything there.

Sorry to not be of more help, Lorna.

Could you please provide some guidance on this - been wanting to do the same as Graham and would appreciate some idea of how to proceed soon.

Hi all,

I've actually stumbled upon how to do this whilst having a play on V-Base Cloud.

1) Firstly go to your Organisation Details at the bottom of the Home Page on V-Base Cloud and click 'Update Details'

2) Next go to 'Organization Contact Information' -  at the bottom of this page and click on the question mark - ? - next to the statement 'You can also include general email and/or phone contact information in mailings'

3) That will bring up a pop up box on the top right hand corner called 'Additional Fields'. Click on the blue Headers and Footers at the bottom of this box. This will open up a separate 'Headers, Footers, and Automated Messages' where you can Enable, Disable and Edit your Header and Footer!!!

Hope that helps!!!!
