Has anyone else been having problems with VBase this week? I was trying to show a colleague how to use it on Tuesday and it was just not working, it kept coming up with a message saying 'service temporarily unavailable'. The forum wasn't working during this time either. I've got a volunteer in this morning and he's been having similar problems. It's very frustrating! I just wondered whether anyone else was having problems with it?
It's done it a couple of times for me but been ok generally. It seems to be when the site is too slow.
We have had similar issues across our offices all week, usually from around the 11am period onwards...
Yes, almost daily, as Steph said, usually from 11am onwards (presumably when volume of users is very high).
Hi All
This is something that hasn't been brought to light previously. From our monitoring software we're not seeing any indication that this is happening due to load but we'll take a closer look if it is a common issue all users are facing.
Hi
I have been trying to process some do it applications (Im from VC One Community- Eastleigh and Fareham.) I have been trying to process from 9.30 until now and I keep recieving the message 'service temporarily unavailable'.
I try to refresh the page and log in and out, however this does not help. Are other users still experiencing this error message?
Many thanks
Naomi
Hi Naomi,
We're aware of issues over this weekend as we have some maintinance planned for the server.
We would hope to complete by the end of the day.
We are experiencing extreme slowness on a daily basis now, which is impacting on our work - the system stutters, struggles to save then returns with a service unavailable message, which usually starts around 11am and continues to get worse as the day goes on (not ideal in the middle of a VC appointment!). I will email support also, but wondered if others were still experiencing the same?
We have been experiencing this also Tuesday this week around 12pm was particularly bad

Same here. Frequent time outs and even a few bad gateway errors. This has been getting progressively worse over time but has been completely unusable at times this week. It's negatively impacted our productivity when we have administration to be getting on with.
We've also experienced the system going down when we're doing interviews with volunteers which meant we were unable to show them suitable opportunities and have had to cancel the interview there and then. Totally unprofessional.
There are clearly infrastracture, bandwidth, database or coding issues at play here. This is an ongoing issue that has been getting worse over the past few months. I (and all other users of V-Base Cloud I imagine) would appeciate an honest explanaton on the matter and a timeline of when this will be rectified.
Hi Everyone
We've been looking at the server performance and monitoring since launch back in April 2015.
To be clear;
What we can see from the monitoring software is that there is a large reliance on the do-it site and there are correlations between the requests to do-it impacting the response time of v-base cloud. What we're looking to do is;
I hope that helps explain some of the issues we have with debugging this, its not an obvious "the server is at capacity" or any part of V-base failing as we have full monitoring software which would highlight such issues.
Please do feedback if you are still having issues, any screen shots and information is always useful i.e. what you were running at the time.
We've also run some enhanced diagnostics today which may have caused outages over the past 30 muinutes or so but we have to do this to try and determine the exact issue during load.
Thanks
Hi Gopi, thank you for responding.
Would it not be wise to implement a cached version of the database when VBase Cloud is unresponsive? Otherwise if the fault is utlimately just the nature of the the link between VBase Cloud and Do-It then we're completely helpless on days like today and yesterday.
This is my vbase cloud at the moment, I'm on Safari.
Hi Luke
Its an option if things dont improve with do-it. The reality is that the API's shouldn't be failing.
If we do go down the cache'd approach then its a very complexed process and will require a lot of rework to the underlying application hence we haven't done it yet. We're due to talk to the do-it team on Tuesday and this will be prioirty no 1.
Hope that makes sense
Thanks
Hi Gopi,
I do indeed understand that would be a fairly big undertaking, and unfortunately maybe a necessary one. Thank you for updating us and I Iook forward to hearing the outcome of your upcoming meeting with the Do-It team.
Thanks.
Parvez COMMENTED This is something that hasn't been brought to light previously. From our monitoring software we're not seeing any indication that this is happening due to load but we'll take a closer look if it is a common issue all users are facing. IF THERE SOFTWARE IS NOT SHOWING THERE IS A PROBLEM WE ALL NEED TO REPORT IT EVEN IF THIS IS TIME CONSUMING AND THIS IS NOW A REGULAR ISSUE.
I would just like to thank Gopi for his comprehensive response - pointing out the actual area of concern etc. Even though there may be ongoing problems, it at least gives us some confidence that we are not working in the dark.
If Do-it had been as candid since day one, then maybe the relationship with VC's would not be so strained.
